Hoodoo Down signifies a new musical direction and offers more styles than just the blues the duo is well-known for.
Hoodoo Down is quite an inspiring listening experience.

Hoodoo Down klinkt koortsachtiger dan zijn voorgangers. Het lome heeft plaatsgemaakt voor een laaiend vuur, zonder dat de band de muzikale roots heeft verloren.
There are so many great songs on “Hoodoo Down” it’s hardly worth the time and trouble trying to single out the pick of the bunch. Wherever you decide to press play, is as good a place to start as any other!
The Damned and Dirty’s albums were awarded Best Dutch Blues Album three years in a row. Their albums feature a lot of blues, mostly in the Delta style, but also gave rise to new ideas and new experiments. These ideas have now given birth to the eclectic collection that is Hoodoo Down.
Featured cuts are The Golden Stairs, a gospel-like song, Someone To Ride The River With, reminiscent of Johnny Cash, and Alley Cat, eight to the bar swing. Tracks like The Porch Light and Hoodoo Down are still there to satisfy those that crave the blues.
Hoodoo Down sees the return of alumni Frank van Tijn on drums and Bram Slinger on organ and a beautiful Wurlitzer electric piano. Other contributors are pianist Hans Vroomans of the world famous Metropole Orchestra, saxophonist Rinus Groeneveld and violinist Joep van Beijnum. Marlou Vriens provided backing vocals on multiple tracks.
